Since February 1, 2026, Dr. Anika Birkholz has been leading Revenue & Capacity Management as Vice President at AIDA Cruises. The mathematician with a PhD and former TUI manager succeeds Dennis Schrahe. He is leaving the cruise line after 17 years to join Alltours. Birkholz now combines yield management, guest transportation, and the customer center. The goal: More efficient processes and even higher profitability.

At the same time, AIDA is pushing ahead strongly with its fleet modernization. The "AIDA Evolution" program is bringing the popular Sphinx-class ships up to the latest standards. In addition to more eco-friendly technology, new suites are being created on board. This ensures a high-quality holiday experience at sea and boosts revenue. In this way, the company secures its strong position in a competitive market.

Another highlight is the 30th anniversary in 2026. AIDA is planning spectacular event cruises, including a grand ship parade in the Port of Hamburg. These special voyages will be accompanied by prominent guests. Such unique offers clearly stand out from standard routes and create unforgettable experiences for passengers.

Growth is also on the horizon for the long term. The parent company Carnival has ordered two new ships from the Fincantieri shipyard. These mid-sized newbuilds are scheduled to set sail starting in 2030. They offer the crucial advantage of being able to call at smaller, more exclusive ports. This means guests will soon have even more exciting destinations to discover on both the starboard and port sides.
