The cruise industry is changing, and the onboard culinary experience is becoming increasingly important. An impressive example of this was delivered by the cruise ship "Regal Princess" on February 17, 2026. While the ship was docked in Cozumel, Mexico, the crew set a new Guinness World Record. Within exactly eight hours, an incredible 3,410 "24K Margaritas" were prepared and sold on board. This equates to an average of over 426 cocktails per hour. An official adjudicator from Guinness World Records was on-site to verify that all regulations were strictly followed.

The timing for this event was strategically well-chosen. The seven-day Caribbean voyage started and ended in Galveston, Texas. Right on time for the US "National Margarita Day" on February 22, the ship returned to its Texan homeport. This gives the record a special historical touch, as Galveston is widely considered one of the possible birthplaces of the famous cocktail. Targeted events like this turn the onboard stay into a true communal experience for the passengers.

At the heart of the record was the "24K Margarita," the absolute best-seller of the Princess fleet. The success of this drink is closely linked to a large-scale partnership. The cruise line has teamed up with "Pantalones Organic Tequila," a brand founded by Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila. This collaboration clearly shows that cruise lines are increasingly relying on high-quality premium ingredients and recognizable brands for their onboard gastronomy, rather than serving basic standard products.

This world record highlights a global trend in the travel industry. Food and beverages are no longer just basic amenities; they are central highlights of a cruise. From bespoke premium cocktails created by master mixologists to excellent non-alcoholic alternatives: today's modern guest expects the exact same quality and variety at sea that they know from the best land-based bars. With this logistical masterpiece, the "Regal Princess" has impressively proven that this is easily achievable, even with thousands of passengers.
