AIDAperla Aborts Port Call in Nordfjordeid Due to Strong Winds
Today, on July 7, 2026, the cruise ship AIDAperla had to cancel its scheduled port call in Nordfjordeid, Norway, at short notice. The 300-meter-long Hyperion-class ship was approaching the port when strong winds of up to 9.7 meters per second compromised safety. Since the AIDAperla has an enormous surface area exposed to the wind, and the ship's own stabilizers are ineffective at low speeds in the harbor basin, the captain decided to safely abort the maneuver. At sea, safety always comes first.
