Late in the evening of March 25, 2026, a serious incident occurred in inland navigation in Amsterdam. The modern river cruise ship "A-Rosa Sena" collided with the Amsterdamsebrug at 11:50 PM. The 135-meter-long ship was on its way from the IJ to the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. Prior to passing, the hydraulically retractable wheelhouse was not lowered in time. As a result, the structure crashed massively into the bridge and was largely destroyed. The antenna at the stern also tore off. This indicates that the ship lacked sufficient clearance along its entire length. The captain sustained minor injuries in the impact.
