Auf der nagelneuen Star Princess kam es im März 2026 zu einem unschönen Zwischenfall. Während einer Karibik-Kreuzfahrt erkrankten insgesamt 153 Personen an Bord an einem hochsteckenden Norovirus. Das gigantische Schiff der modernen Sphere-Klasse, das umweltfreundlich mit LNG angetrieben wird und an Backbord sowie Steuerbord über fortschrittliche Landstromanschlüsse verfügt, stieß dabei an die Grenzen seiner Technik. Weder berührungslose Wearables noch modernste Lüftungssysteme konnten die Ausbreitung des Virus in den stark frequentierten Bereichen vollständig verhindern.
