David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line, emphasized the role of guest feedback in this decision: "Our goal is to provide our guests with the best possible vacation experience, giving them the freedom and flexibility to do more of what they love. We’ve listened to our guests’ feedback and are thrilled to offer them MORE onboard activities starting this summer."
Norwegian Epic: Enhanced Offerings for European Season Starting May 2025
Following a three-week dry dock period, the Norwegian Epic will commence its European season on May 8, 2025, featuring significant enhancements on its upper deck. A new whirlpool on Deck 18 and a modernized aqua park for children, replacing the previous Splashgolf, are intended to broaden the leisure options.
For adult guests, the Vibe Beach Club will be expanded. This exclusive adults-only outdoor oasis replaces the Posh Beach Club and will feature an additional whirlpool, more sun loungers, and new private cabanas. It offers views of the Greek Isles and the Mediterranean. Additionally, the refurbishment plans include the construction of eight new cabins (a mix of balcony and oceanview).
Starting May 8, 2025, the Norwegian Epic will operate nine-, ten-, and eleven-day cruises from Rome (Civitavecchia) to the Mediterranean and the Greek Isles. Ports of call include Santorini, Mykonos, Valletta, Naples, Catania, and Florence/Pisa (Livorno). Following its European season, the ship will return to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to begin seven-day roundtrip Southern Caribbean voyages with stops in Tortola, St. John's (Antigua), Bridgetown, Castries, Philipsburg, and St. Thomas.
Pride of America: Targeted Modernizations for Hawaii Cruises
The Pride of America will also undergo substantial modernization from May 3 to May 31, 2025. One notable addition is the opening of a Starbucks outlet in the Capitol Atrium on Deck 5. To meet the demand for more sports activities, a pickleball court will be installed on the existing sports court.
Accommodation choices will also be expanded: Twelve new Club Balcony Suites and three Interior cabins will be added on Deck 12. The youth program areas will be reorganized: The Splash Academy (for ages 3-12) and the Entourage teen club will move to Deck 6, replacing the former Library, Internet Cafe, and S/S America Chapel. A new Library and Card Room (formerly the Shuffles Card Room) will also be established.
Beginning May 31, 2025, the Pride of America will resume its year-round service from Honolulu, offering the unique seven-day inter-island Hawaii cruise. This distinctive itinerary allows guests to explore four islands within a week, featuring nearly 100 hours in port and overnight stays on Maui and Kauai.
