The new immediate destination is Busan, South Korea. This port will thus be visited for the second time during the current voyage, following a scheduled call on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. The repeated, unscheduled stop in Busan serves solely to take on the urgently needed provision delivery. According to information from onboard, this involves approximately 25 tons of products, the absence of which is already being felt on the ship. No shore leave is planned for passengers during this technical stop; there will be no entry into South Korea.
Such logistical challenges are not uncommon in the cruise industry. A significant portion of the supplies for ships operated by German companies is transported via container freight from Europe to cruising regions worldwide. Delays in these container deliveries can mean that cruise ships must either wait for the delivery or resort to locally available alternatives at short notice, which often proves difficult. In the case of Mein Schiff 6, TUI Cruises opted to return to Busan to receive the shipment.
This itinerary adjustment directly impacts the planned stay in Shanghai. The visit to the Chinese metropolis, originally scheduled from April 19 to 20, 2025, must be significantly shortened. The ship will now arrive in Shanghai only on the evening of Saturday, April 19, instead of in the morning as planned. Consequently, guests will only have Sunday, April 20, available for extensive exploration and shore excursions. It is expected that once the provisions are successfully loaded in Busan, product availability onboard will largely return to normal.
Comparison of Itineraries (April 9 to 23, 2025):
- Original Itinerary: Hong Kong – Hong Kong – Sea Day – Keelung (Taiwan) – Sea Day – Sea Day – Busan – Nagasaki – Kagoshima – Sea Day – Shanghai – Shanghai – Sea Day – Sea Day – Hong Kong
- Adjusted Itinerary: Hong Kong – Hong Kong – Sea Day – Keelung (Taiwan) – Sea Day – Sea Day – Busan – Nagasaki – Kagoshima – Busan [Provisioning only, no shore leave] – Sea Day & late arrival Shanghai – Shanghai – Sea Day – Sea Day – Hong Kong
