Hamburg Promotes International Cruise Partnerships at Seatrade Cruise Global 2025
For Hamburg, Seatrade Cruise Global represents a strategically important platform to cultivate contacts with the significant North American market and introduce itself to the world's over 70 leading cruise lines. Simone Maraschi, Managing Director of Hamburg's terminal operator Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH (CGH), emphasizes the positive developments at the location: "We are looking forward to a strong year with nearly 300 ship calls. Special highlights include the tenth Hamburg Cruise Days in September and the upcoming opening of our new cruise terminal in HafenCity. This modern terminal, located in a dynamic urban district, opens up promising prospects for our existing and future cruise line clients." Further discussions on this topic are planned for the Miami trade show.
At booth number 1827 in the Destination Hall of the Miami Beach Convention Center, Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH will be accompanied by numerous partners. Many of these are member companies of the Hamburg Cruise Net e.V. network and key players in the local cruise economy. These include: Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein, DFI Dauerflora International GmbH, H.C. Röver Maritime Agency GmbH, HMS Hanseatic Marine Services GmbH & Co. KG, Jongen GmbH & Co. KG, MTC Marine Training Center Hamburg GmbH, Radiopark GmbH & Co. KG, and Sartori & Berger GmbH & Co. KG.
Christine Beine, Managing Director of Hamburg Cruise Net, underscores the economic importance of the cruise sector for Hamburg: "The entire industry generates an annual turnover of 1.03 billion euros in Hamburg and contributes nearly 420 million euros to the gross value added." This value creation, she explains, stems significantly from the close ties with the local economy. As an example, Beine mentions AIDA Cruises, which collaborates with over 600 service providers and partner companies in the Hanseatic city.
Current data from the German Travel Association (DRV) confirms the continued high demand for cruises in Germany. In 2024, with 3.8 million ocean and river cruise passengers from Germany, the record level of the previous year was surpassed by another 5 percent. Total spending on cruise travel amounted to approximately 6.3 billion euros. This positive industry trend, particularly in the Northern Europe sailing region, was also reflected in Hamburg in 2024: The city recorded record figures with 266 ship calls and around 1.3 million passengers.
