Norwegian Aqua Makes Maiden Call in Southampton

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Norwegian Aqua arrived at the Horizon Cruise Terminal in Southampton, England, for the first time. This maiden call also marked the debut of the ship’s shore power connection. Norwegian Aqua was delivered by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri on March 13, 2025, and is currently undertaking introductory voyages ahead of its official entry into service.

Since its call in Lisbon on March 20, 2025, select business partners and media representatives have been on board to experience the new vessel firsthand. Following two overnight stays in the Portuguese capital, Norwegian Aqua continued its journey across the occasionally rough Atlantic during two sea days before arriving in Southampton. From there, it embarks on another three-day preview voyage, primarily for British guests. The ship’s official inaugural voyage—a transatlantic cruise from Southampton to Boston—will commence on March 28, 2025.

The Southampton visit is one of the few European port calls planned for Norwegian Aqua. Over the next few years, the ship will primarily operate in North America and the Caribbean. Following its christening by actor Eric Stonestreet on April 13, 2025, in Miami, Norwegian Aqua will sail weeklong Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral between April and August 2025. From August to October 2025, it will offer cruises from New York City to Bermuda before spending its first winter season (2025/26) on weeklong Caribbean voyages from Miami.
