On 21 and 22 November 2024, the 29th RTL Spendenmarathon will take place in Cologne, organized under the patronage of Kristina Vogel. AIDA Cruises is continuing its support for charitable projects and is once again taking part in this charity event. As part of this year's charity marathon, participants can expect a special challenge: the 24-hour challenge, which focuses on the topic of “inclusion”.

A team for a good cause

This year, AIDA Cruises is putting together a team of around 30 employees to take on a unique challenge: A wheelchair course over 250 meters, which the team will tackle for 24 hours straight. On the course, they will be confronted with various tasks, such as aiming through holes in a wall or overcoming typical obstacles that wheelchair users encounter in everyday life - including ramps, uneven surfaces and carpets. For each of the 24 hours, AIDA Cruises will donate at least EUR 1,000, resulting in a total of EUR 24,000 for projects benefiting children in need.

Diversity and inclusion as a corporate philosophy

“At AIDA, we live a diverse and open corporate culture. We want our team on land, the crew on board and our guests to feel welcome. For us, this naturally includes making accessible travel possible,” says Alexander Ewig, Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales at AIDA Cruises.

Expert advice for accessibility

Back in May 2022, AIDA Cruises established a council of experts under the leadership of Kristina Vogel in order to create continuous improvements in terms of accessibility. This council is made up of representatives of various interest groups and works together to develop solutions to ensure that all guests have an accessible and enjoyable travel experience on AIDA ships.
