Although the AIDAnova was on course for Ålesund from Flåm during the night, it turned off near the port at around 07:50 on Wednesday morning as the conditions did not allow for a safe docking maneuver. Without the possibility of calling at an alternative port at short notice, the crew decided on a special program item: the AIDAnova took its passengers on an impressive journey through the Geirangerfjord, which is known for its spectacular landscapes. However, a stopover in the small town of Geiranger was not part of the itinerary. This may even have been the AIDAnova's first passage through the Geirangerfjord, which is scheduled to feature on other routes with the ship from summer 2026.
In the meantime, the AIDAnova has returned to the open sea and is heading for Stavanger, where it is expected to arrive tomorrow. On Saturday, the ship will finally reach Hamburg, from where it will spend the winter of 2024/25. Until April 2025, the AIDAnova will offer week-long routes from the Hanseatic city to major cities, Scandinavia and southern Norway.
