Bernd Eikens, CEO of Meyer Werft, expressed his delight at the ship's punctual completion: “We are proud to hand over the Disney Treasure to Disney Cruise Line today. It is the result of our intensive partnership with Disney, and our entire team has put a lot of heart and passion into this project.” In addition to Eikens, Bernard Meyer and Thomas Mazloum, President of Disney Signature Experiences, also signed the delivery documents to seal the handover.
According to Mazloum, the Disney Treasure brings the unique Disney cruise experience to a wider audience: “This ship is another step in bringing the magic of Disney to even more fans. We appreciate the collaboration with Meyer Werft and look forward to further expanding the Disney Cruise Line fleet.”
New and imaginative adventures await families on board the Disney Treasure. The ship's interior is inspired by the stories from the Disney universe: a themed restaurant in the style of Pixar's “Coco”, a Broadway version of the film “Moana” and lounges specially designed for adults in the style of the Disney parks. As a highlight, the first “Haunted Mansion” bar will delight guests with its unique atmosphere.
The Disney Treasure is the fifth ship that Meyer Werft has built for Disney Cruise Line and is the newest member of the fleet. The partnership between Meyer Werft and Disney Cruise Line began with the ships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, which were launched in 2010 and 2012. The new Wish class, which also includes the Disney Treasure, began with the delivery of the Disney Wish in 2022. Another sister ship, the Disney Destiny, is already under construction in Papenburg and is scheduled to enter service in 2025. In August 2024, it was also announced that Meyer Werft will build four more ships for Disney Cruise Line, which are due to set sail between 2027 and 2031.
