During the current voyage of the cruise ship AIDAsol, water damage occurred which affected parts of the ship. Some cabins on deck 5 were particularly affected and became uninhabitable as a result of the damage. Around 50 passengers therefore had to cancel their five-day “short trip to Norway from Hamburg” early and left the ship in the port of Stavanger.

To accommodate the affected guests, AIDA Cruises organized their return flight to Hamburg. There, the travelers had the option of either returning home immediately or spending the remaining days of their trip in a hotel. The costs incurred for the flight and any hotel accommodation were covered in full by AIDA Cruises.

The water damage occurred just a few days before the start of the AIDAsol's upcoming world cruise, which is scheduled to depart on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. However, AIDA Cruises has assured that the necessary repairs will be completed in good time so that the planned departure is not jeopardized. Neither passengers on the world cruise nor those who have only booked for part of the voyage need to worry about their cabins or possible cancellations.

The guests who were affected by the damage and were flown from Stavanger to Hamburg on October 21, 2024, received a full refund of their travel costs. They had already enjoyed a day at sea on the North Sea and visited the Norwegian destinations of Eidfjord and Stavanger since the voyage departed from Hamburg on October 18, 2024. All other passengers whose cabins are not affected will disembark in Hamburg as planned on October 23, 2024 after today's further sea day on the North Sea.
