The sea rescue crew had rushed to the AIDAnova from Laboe. In the event of medical emergencies on cruises, it is customary for patients to be brought ashore as quickly as possible, which is often done in cooperation with the sea rescuers. The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) has specially trained personnel for such emergency maneuvers. After the rendezvous with the AIDAnova, the rescue cruiser set course for Laboe and reached the port of the Kiel Fjord at around 9:30 pm.
After completing the maneuver, the AIDAnova continued its planned voyage towards Oslo. The ship is currently on the last voyage of the 2024 summer season and is sailing the “Scandinavian Highlights from Kiel” route. On this tour, the ship will visit Oslo and Kristiansand in Norway as well as Skagen, Copenhagen and Aarhus in Denmark.
A noticeable delay due to the sea rescue operation is not expected. The AIDAnova plans to compensate for the slight delay by moderately increasing its speed until its arrival in Oslo.
