The reason for the AIDAperla's delay is still unclear. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the ship left the port of Stavanger as scheduled. Stavanger was the last stop on a 10-day cruise through the fjords of Norway. Between 10 p.m. on Sunday evening and 5 a.m. on Monday morning, the ship made several rounds near the Elbe 1 pilot station. It is believed that either the weather conditions prevented the pilot from handing over or the strong winds hindered entry into the Elbe Passage.
The delayed arrival will also affect the change of passengers today. Numerous departing guests will probably not reach their train or flight as planned, while newly arriving guests may be delayed in boarding. AIDA Cruises is certainly making every effort to reorganize the passenger changeover and to inform the affected guests in good time about updated check-in times.
Due to the considerable delay, AIDAperla will probably not set off on its four-day short trip to Stavanger in Norway today at 6 pm as planned. The ship will not be able to leave the port until all the work in Hamburg, such as loading luggage and other goods, has been completed and check-in is finished. Guests arriving today must therefore expect longer waiting times at check-in.
