Trip cancellation for AIDAcosma passengers due to flight problem in Hanover

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the departure of some AIDAcosma guests at Hanover Airport was canceled at short notice. The reason for this was a technical defect on a chartered aircraft that was to take AIDAcosma passengers exclusively to the starting point of their cruise to Palma de Mallorca. For many travelers, this was a disappointing start to the autumn vacations.

Despite efforts with its partner airlines, AIDA Cruises was unable to provide an alternative flight for the stranded passengers. The booked package tour, which included both the Mediterranean cruise on the AIDAcosma and the flight, had to be canceled directly at the airport. The Rostock-based shipping company informed the affected guests about possible alternatives. Guests were advised to reach one of the ports of call on the AIDAcosma's current route independently in order to board the ship at a later date.

The AIDAcosma started its week-long cruise through the Mediterranean as planned on Saturday evening. However, the guests from Hanover who were affected by the flight cancellation were not on board. On Monday, the ship reached the port of La Spezia, and the following Tuesday it will call at Civitavecchia near Rome. There is a possibility that some of the stranded guests will still be able to board the ship with a delay of several days to enjoy the remaining days in the western Mediterranean.
