The new cruise ship Sun Princess has successfully completed its first season in the Mediterranean. As the first ship in the innovative Sphere class, it entered service on February 28, 2024 after a short delay. The ceremonial christening took place on April 23, 2024 in Barcelona, performed by British actress Hannah Waddingham. After numerous voyages through western and eastern Mediterranean destinations, the Sun Princess will be deployed for week-long Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the 2024/25 winter season.

On September 14, 2024, the Sun Princess docked for the last time this year in Barcelona, one of the main ports of departure for the summer season. After crossing the Atlantic, the ship will call at the UK for the first time on September 22 and 23, 2024, with a two-day stopover in the important port of Southampton. The change of guests will also take place there before the transatlantic route towards Fort Lauderdale begins.

On October 9, 2024, the Sun Princess will dock in its new port of departure, Fort Lauderdale, for the first time. At this debut, the ship will be presented to an invited group of media representatives and business partners. It will then set sail on its first Caribbean cruise on October 14, 2024. After a winter season in the Caribbean, the Sun Princess will return to the Mediterranean in April 2025. Both the Sun Princess and its sister ship Star Princess, another Sphere-class ship, are then planned for cruises in southern Europe in summer 2025.
