The Oasis of the Seas, one of the world's ten largest cruise ships, has completed its summer season in the western Mediterranean. During this season, the ship undertook week-long cruises in the region. The 15-year-old ship is currently in dry dock at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain, for planned maintenance and refurbishment work.

On the last weekend in September, the last passengers left the ship in Barcelona before the Oasis of the Seas sailed on to Cadiz. The ship will remain there for around two weeks before embarking on its first voyage from Barcelona after the shipyard period on October 24, 2024. This first voyage will be a two-week transatlantic cruise to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the ship will make regular cruises to the Caribbean in the coming years.

Each summer, Royal Caribbean International bases one of its Oasis-class ships in the Mediterranean for pre- or post-season maintenance. While the Oasis of the Seas sailed the Mediterranean this year, its younger sister ship, the Allure of the Seas, will take over this route next year. Before the 2025 Mediterranean season, the Allure of the Seas will be equipped with new features as part of the “Amplification” modernization programme.
