In the summer of 2026, AIDA Cruises is combining classic ocean holidays with action-packed elite sports. Just in time for its 30th anniversary, the cruise line is launching a massive basketball campaign aimed specifically at attracting younger audiences and families. As an official FIBA partner, AIDA is bringing the sport directly from the arenas onto its fleet and into the ports.

A central element on land is the sponsorship of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Berlin in September 2026, setting a strong signal for women in sports. This is accompanied by the fast-paced ING 3x3 German Championship in Hannover in July. Even NBA flair is coming to Germany: In August, the Orlando Magic will visit the AIDAperla in the Port of Hamburg for an exclusive basketball day, complete with a live podcast.

The real athletic action, however, takes place right on board. In August 2026, special youth basketball camps will be held on the AIDAnova and AIDAmar. In cooperation with the Rostock Seawolves, kids can train with pros like DeAndre Lansdowne on the high seas. This concept offers parents the chance to relax while their teenagers receive top-tier sports coaching.

With these event cruises, AIDA is transforming its ships into active sports venues. At the same time, the cruise line is using a large-scale VIP ticket raffle to gather valuable data about passenger preferences. It is a smart move to keep the cruise industry modern and highly attractive for the next generation.
