Attention sea travel enthusiasts: AIDA Cruises has revealed a big surprise! Starting in winter 2027/2028, the AIDAprima will leave its home in Northern Europe for the first time to set sail in the Caribbean. This is a significant piece of news that will likely surprise many cruise fans.

AIDA recently released over 300 new voyages for the season from October 2027 to April 2028. A closer look at the routes shows that an incredible 29 of the 36 planned AIDAprima voyages will be heading to the sunny Caribbean. This means the ship will spend almost the entire winter season in this dream destination. Why the change in course? It’s due to the two younger and even larger sister ships of the AIDAprima, the AIDAnova and the AIDAcosma. These two ships have taken over the routes in Northern Europe and the Canary Islands. This frees up the AIDAprima for new, exciting destinations like the Caribbean, allowing the cruise line to upgrade its offerings.

The AIDAprima is, by the way, perfectly suited for tropical regions. Its covered Beach Club is ideal for relaxing, even during brief, typical tropical showers or in intense sun. Regarding the exact itineraries, there's a unique detail: AIDA has not yet released specific information about the starting ports or exact destinations. The only confirmed fact is that there will be 29 voyages to the Caribbean and Central America. This could be a strategic decision to maintain maximum flexibility in route planning.

With this move, AIDA is setting a new standard in the German-speaking cruise market for the Caribbean. While smaller or older ships like the AIDAluna and the AIDAbella have often been deployed there in the past, AIDA is now sending a modern and large ship to the region. This shows how important this market is for the company. Bookings have already started, and those who act quickly can secure the “early-bird bonus.” Prices for the AIDAprima's Caribbean voyages are not yet known, but they are expected to be at the higher end of the long-haul travel price range.

Overall, the new positioning of the AIDAprima is a smart move by AIDA. They are making optimal use of their fleet's capacity, upgrading the Caribbean product, and strengthening their competitive position. It will be exciting to see what exact routes AIDA will announce for the ship in the coming months.
