Successful Ship Handover: Meyer Werft Delivers Cruise Ship Disney Destiny Ahead of Schedule
The Disney Destiny is the third ship of the so-called Wish-class. With its 1,256 cabins, it offers space for over 4,000 guests and 1,606 crew members. Technologically, it is state-of-the-art: The ship is powered by environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas (LNG).
A Ship Full of Heroes and Villains
The heart of the Disney Destiny is its unique theme: "Heroes and Villains" from the world of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel. This concept runs throughout the entire ship, from the imaginative restaurants like "Pride Lands" to the exclusive shows.
The absolute highlight is the world premiere of the stage show "Disney Hercules," which can only be seen on board this ship. Even the areas reserved for adults, such as the "Cask and Cannon Pub," are designed to match the pirate theme.
Maiden Voyage from Fort Lauderdale
After the handover, the Disney Destiny will make its way across the Atlantic to its future home port of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From there, it will operate year-round. The maiden voyage is scheduled for November 20, 2025. On this four-night cruise, the ship will call at both of Disney's private islands: Disney Castaway Cay and the new Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. This is a special treat for anyone who wants to be among the first to experience the ship.
A Strong Partnership with a Future
The early completion of the Disney Destiny strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Meyer Werft and Disney Cruise Line. It is a sign that the shipyard can implement its projects efficiently despite rising costs and complex supply chains. This is particularly important because Meyer Werft has many more ships in its order book until 2031—including a fourth sister ship of the Wish-class, which is scheduled for delivery in 2027. The Disney Destiny is not just a new ship but another milestone in a successful story.
