On Friday, September 26, 2025, Princess Cruises welcomed a new addition to its fleet in Italy: the Star Princess. The modern cruise ship was handed over by the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone and is now ready to conquer the seas. With a gross tonnage (GT) of approximately 177,800, it is the second-largest ship ever built in Italy and the second vessel of the new Sphere Class.

What's particularly remarkable is how quickly the Star Princess will set sail after its handover. Its maiden voyage is scheduled for October 4, just a few days later. This demonstrates the seamless planning and preparation, as 1,600 crew members were already on board at the time of the handover, preparing everything for the first guests. Such a rapid launch is quite unusual in the industry and highlights the high level of professionalism of both companies.

The ship is not just a highlight because of its size. It is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), making it one of the most environmentally friendly cruise ships. This fuel ensures that fewer emissions are released into the air. With 21 decks and space for about 4,300 guests, the Star Princess offers plenty of room for experiences and relaxation. A notable feature is the large number of cabins with private balconies, giving passengers a special sense of freedom and privacy.

The Star Princess has an exciting itinerary ahead. Its first voyage will take it to the Mediterranean. Subsequently, starting November 7, it will set course for the Caribbean. The following year, it will also operate in Alaska, where its eco-friendly propulsion is a significant advantage.

Onboard, guests can expect a lot: there are 30 different restaurants and bars. Highlights include the technologically advanced theater "The Arena," the multifunctional entertainment area "The Dome," and a welcoming "Piazza" at the heart of the ship. For those who prefer a touch of luxury, there's the "Sanctuary Collection." This exclusive offering provides guests in 215 premium cabins access to special areas like the Suite Lounge and the Sanctuary Restaurant. This "ship-within-a-ship" concept ensures a particularly elevated cruise experience.

With the Star Princess, Princess Cruises is not only expanding its fleet but also demonstrating how sustainable travel can be combined with modern design and comfort. This strengthens the company's position in the market and secures its future as an innovator in the industry.
