TUI Cruises Fleet Grows: Two New Cruise Ships Ordered
The two new vessels are designed as sister ships to the Mein Schiff Relax and the Mein Schiff Flow, and will be part of TUI Cruises’ modern InTUItion-class. However, passengers will have to be patient, as the newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in 2031 and 2032.
With a gross tonnage of approximately 160,000 GT, the new ships will be significantly larger than the units originally planned for another TUI brand in early 2025. This size positions them at the forefront of the TUI Cruises fleet and reflects the highly modern design of the InTUItion-class.
With this order, TUI Cruises reaffirms its commitment to sustainability. The new ships will be equipped with dual-fuel engines that can be operated with both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO). This future-proof propulsion system meets the latest environmental standards and paves the way for the future use of more climate-friendly bio- or e-LNG.
Other sustainability technologies are already standard on the ships of the InTUItion-class, including:
- Catalytic converters that meet Euro 6 standards.
- A shore power connection for almost emission-free operation in port.
- A highly efficient waste treatment system.
The order value for Fincantieri is considered substantial but remains within the threshold communicated on March 31, 2025. This clearly indicates that the fleet expansion is a major investment in the future.
