Kiel Climate Strike: Fridays for Future Bike Demo on September 20

The planned route for the bike demonstration will cover a large part of the city center. Starting at the Reventloubrücke, it will proceed via Düsternbrooker Weg, Kaistraße, and Sophienblatt. The route also includes the on-ramp to the A215 and parts of the B76 before the demonstration circles back via Westring and Holtenauer Straße to the Kiellinie. Police will accompany the cyclists and manage traffic. Due to the demo, temporary road closures and detours are to be expected.

Although the event has been extensively planned and officially registered, there have been no public warnings or press releases from the police. However, this lack of communication is not a sign of a problem. It rather suggests that the authorities consider the situation manageable and that the necessary coordination with the organizers has already proceeded smoothly. Nonetheless, it is advisable to keep an eye on the traffic situation on Saturday afternoon.

The history of demonstrations in Kiel shows that, despite good planning, unexpected situations can arise.
