Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas Loses Godmother Diana Ros

The cruise line Royal Caribbean has announced an unexpected change regarding the christening of its newest vessel, the Star of the Seas. The individual originally chosen for this honor, the world-renowned singer Diana Ross, has withdrawn from the role of godmother.

Diana Ross had only been announced as the ship's godmother in June. As reported by the Crew Center portal, she was expected to lead the official ceremony in Port Canaveral, Florida, this August.

In a statement to People magazine, Royal Caribbean expressed its disappointment with the decision. The company stated that it was saddened that Diana Ross would not be able to serve as the godmother and announced that a new one would be named soon.

The reason for her withdrawal remains unclear. The official website for Diana Ross listed the start of her "Beautiful Love" tour for August 16. On the surface, there did not appear to be any obvious scheduling conflict between the artist's tour dates and the planned christening event.
