The reason for the itinerary change is presumed to be unfavorable weather conditions off the German high-seas island. These conditions likely prevented safe tender boat operations, where passengers are brought ashore in smaller boats. As Heligoland does not have docking facilities for ships the size of the MS Europa, tendering is the standard method for enabling guest visits.
However, the undeniable focus of this special weekend trip was the culinary experience on board. For the 19th edition of the renowned "EUROPAs Beste" event, the elite of the international gastronomy scene gathered on the pool deck of the luxury ship on Friday evening in the port of Hamburg. An impressive lineup of top chefs, collectively holding 17 Michelin stars and three Green stars for sustainability, treated guests to their masterpieces at numerous tasting stations. The offerings were complemented by exquisite wines from top vintners and other delicacies from culinary experts.
On Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, the MS Europa returned as scheduled to the Cruise Center HafenCity in Hamburg, where guests disembarked. Immediately following, the ship embarked on its next journey: a 14-day cruise to the fjords of Norway, concluding in Lübeck-Travemünde.
Adjusted Itinerary (August 1 - August 3, 2025):
- Original: Hamburg – Heligoland – Hamburg
- Actual: Hamburg – Sea Day – Hamburg
