The official program along the Kiel Fjord already begins today. However, the ceremonial opening of the event will take place tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, 2025. To mark the start of the event, two consecutive triple calls by cruise ships are scheduled. Today, AIDAbella, Costa Diadema, and MS Amadea will be berthed together in Kiel, while AIDAnova, MSC Euribia, and MS Europa are expected on Saturday.
Kiel Week is recognized as one of the world's leading sailing events and a popular summer festival in Northern Germany. The annual event combines peak athletic performance, cultural diversity, and an international ambiance. This unique maritime occasion is renowned far beyond Germany's borders. The Rostock-based shipping company AIDA Cruises is once again a significant sponsor of Kiel Week this year. The maritime festival will conclude on Sunday, June 29, with the "Home under the Stars" grand finale, presented by AIDA Cruises. This show, starting at 11 PM, will feature a combination of fireworks, a modern drone and laser display accompanied by music, and is expected to attract a large audience along the fjord's shore.

All these vessels are homeported in Kiel this summer, embarking on regular cruises to the Baltic Sea and Northern Europe.
Retrospective: Ship Christening and Spectacular Closing Ceremonies
In previous years, cruise ships have often taken center stage during Kiel Week. For instance, at Kiel Week 2024, Mein Schiff 7 by TUI Cruises was christened in a celebratory ceremony themed "The Seventh Heaven at Sea" by Environmental Officer Fenia Kalachani. Often, a cruise ship is also present in the harbor for the grand closing ceremony on the second weekend of the event.
