According to passenger reports, suspicious noises and initial cracks were noticed on a glass panel. A crew member immediately recognized the danger, rushed down two decks to the pool area on Deck 15, and evacuated the hazardous area. Shortly thereafter, the panel shattered, and its fragments fell onto the previously cleared sun loungers and into a swimming pool.
The exact cause of the material failure has not yet been officially confirmed. Experts speculate that minimal structural deformations of the ship's frame could have led to stress in the glass. Such incidents are extremely rare, as modern cruise ships are equipped with high-strength safety glass. The damaged panel on Deck 17 was promptly replaced with a new one, causing only minimal disruption to the ship's operations. The affected pool had to be temporarily closed for cleaning to remove the glass shards.
The ship is on a seven-day voyage that began in Bayonne, USA (near New York City), on June 6, 2025, and will conclude there on June 13, 2025. The itinerary includes stops in Port Canaveral (Florida), Nassau (Bahamas), and the cruise line's private island, Coco Cay.
