Hamburg Port Anniversary 2026 Outlook: Six Cruise Liners and Maritime Festival Program Expected

Following the conclusion of the 836th Hamburg Port Anniversary festivities, marked by the traditional departure parade on the Elbe River and numerous onshore visitors on Sunday, May 11, 2025, attention is now shifting to the subsequent year. The Hanseatic city is preparing for the 837th Port Anniversary, scheduled to take place from May 8 to 10, 2026. For this major maritime event, the arrival of an estimated six ocean-going cruise ships is anticipated.

In 2026, visitors can once again look forward to the well-established, extensive event promenade stretching between the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and the Landungsbrücken piers. A diverse supporting program is being planned, which will include the impressive arrival parade, opportunities for ship tours (Open Ship), various concerts, and the popular tugboat ballet, among other attractions. It is expected that numerous cruise passengers will also seize the opportunity to visit what is arguably Germany's most popular maritime festival.

For comparison, during the 836th Port Anniversary in 2025, the ships AIDAluna, AIDAsol, AIDAprima, and AIDAperla from AIDA Cruises, Cunard Line's Queen Anne, and MS Amadea from Phoenix Reisen docked in Hamburg. For 2026, AIDAluna, AIDAsol, and AIDAperla (AIDA Cruises), Hanseatic Spirit from Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Mein Schiff 7 from TUI Cruises, and MSC Preziosa from MSC Cruises have been announced. The MSC Preziosa is planning an overnight stay in the Elbe metropolis from Saturday to Sunday.

The presence of cruise ships at the Port Anniversary occurs for various reasons: some ocean liners specifically head to Hamburg for this event, while others conduct a regular passenger changeover during the event period. Despite the immense crowds and numerous attractions, regular operations in the Port of Hamburg traditionally continue almost undisturbed during the festival weekend.
