Instead of visiting Geiranger, MSC Euribia will exclusively dock in Hellesylt, at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord, on the affected dates. The docking time in Hellesylt will be extended to the period from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The original itinerary included only a short morning stop in Hellesylt (9:00 AM to 9:45 AM) for the start of shore excursions, followed by a longer stay from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Seawalk in Geiranger.
MSC Cruises cites unforeseeable natural and weather conditions in the fjord region, particularly the existing risk of avalanches, as the reason for this itinerary change. The safety of guests and crew always has the highest priority, both onboard and during shore activities.
A consequence of omitting Geiranger is that the passage through the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will not take place on these voyages, unless a separate scenic cruise is offered before or after the call in Hellesylt.
For MSC Euribia's fourth Norway cruise of this season, from May 24th to 31st, 2025, only a call in Hellesylt was planned anyway. Therefore, according to the current schedule, the ship is now expected to call at Geiranger for the first time this year on June 3rd, 2025. However, according to the official port schedule for Geiranger, other large cruise ships such as AIDAprima, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Prima, and Mein Schiff 2 are expected there before this date.
MSC Euribia is currently on its repositioning voyage from the Orient to Northern Europe. Its summer season, featuring cruises to the Norwegian fjords, begins on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025. Kiel in Germany and Copenhagen in Denmark serve as embarkation and disembarkation ports for these voyages.
