For the passengers onboard, the anniversary provides a festive occasion shortly before the conclusion of their journey. Depending on their point of embarkation, guests will disembark in Hamburg tomorrow after 25, 19, or nine days of cruising. Unlike the previous two years, the birthday can once again be celebrated during regular passenger operations this time. In April 2023, AIDAbella was undergoing maintenance in a shipyard, and in April 2024, the ship had to be transferred without passengers on a repositioning voyage from Asia around Africa to Europe.
AIDAbella was officially christened on April 23, 2008, in the port of Rostock-Warnemünde. The model, presenter, singer, and actress Eva Padberg was chosen as the godmother for the sister ship of AIDAdiva. Just one day after the ceremony, on April 24, 2008, AIDAbella embarked on her one-week maiden voyage. This journey took the ship to Bergen, Oslo, Gothenburg, and Copenhagen. With the commissioning of AIDAbella 17 years ago, the AIDA Cruises fleet grew to a total of five ships. From this original lineup, only AIDAbella and her sister ship AIDAdiva remain in active service for the cruise line today.
Since entering service, AIDAbella has provided enjoyable experiences for numerous passengers on countless voyages. Traditionally, the ship often sailed in Northern European waters during the summer months, while the winter months were used for long-haul trips to destinations such as the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, or the Orient. Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Caribbean season, AIDAbella will primarily be deployed for two-week cruises from and to Kiel in the upcoming summer season.
The current transatlantic voyage of AIDAbella from April 5 to 24, 2025, includes the following ports of call: La Romana – Samana – Road Town (Tortola) – St. Johns (Antigua) – six consecutive sea days – Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) – Arrecife (Lanzarote) – two sea days including a call in Vigo – Vigo – another call in Vigo combined with a sea day – sea day – Cherbourg – sea day – Hamburg.
