While the new build from the German cruise line TUI Cruises has already been successfully in guest service for over a month, the christening marks the immediate starting point for the "MSC World America's" deployment. Following the festivities, the ship will commence its regular service, offering week-long Caribbean cruises.
In the port of Malaga, Andalusia, the christening of "Mein Schiff Relax" will become a small fleet gathering. Sister ships "Mein Schiff 5" and "Mein Schiff 7" are also present, having already docked sequentially at the piers this morning. The main star of the day, "Mein Schiff Relax," is expected around 5:00 PM (17:00) and is scheduled to take its berth precisely between the other two ships of the feel-good fleet.
Shortly after mooring, the official celebrations will begin at a specially designated event area at the cruise terminal. The supporting program promises top-tier entertainment, including a concert by TUI Cruises' "Well-being Ambassador" Robbie Williams, as well as performances by other well-known artists.
The highlight, the actual christening ceremony, will be broadcast live starting around 9:50 PM (21:50). The godmother is Giuliana Rizzo. As Spa & Sport Manager, she is part of the ship's initial commissioning crew and a long-standing employee of the Mein Schiff fleet. She will bestow good fortune upon TUI Cruises' eighth new build with the traditional wish "Allzeit Gute Fahrt" (Always Good Travels) and break the obligatory champagne bottle against the ship's hull.
The christening is part of the current voyage of "Mein Schiff Relax," taking place from April 7 to April 16, 2025. The itinerary for this special christening voyage leads from Palma de Mallorca via a sea day to Malaga, the site of the ceremony. After another day in Malaga, the ship sets course for Tangier and Gibraltar, followed by another sea day, before returning to Palma de Mallorca via Barcelona and Valencia.
