AIDAsol is spending the fourteenth anniversary of its christening at sea, specifically docked today in the port of Trondheim, Norway. The vessel is currently undertaking the final voyage of its "Winter in the High North" itinerary for this season. Before this cruise concludes in Hamburg on April 12, 2025, a call at the Norwegian port of Måløy is still scheduled. For the upcoming 2025 summer season, AIDAsol will be homeported in Hamburg, operating cruises to Northern and Western European waters from there.
At the time of its introduction in 2011, AIDAsol, along with its sister ship AIDAblu, represented the second, enhanced generation of the Sphinx Class. Compared to the earlier vessels AIDAdiva, AIDAluna, and AIDAbella, these ships featured a larger number of cabins and an additional passenger deck. The Sphinx series was completed in subsequent years with the addition of AIDAmar and AIDAstella. Currently, the ships of this class range in age from 12 to 18 years.
To ensure the longevity of the Sphinx Class, AIDA Cruises is progressively putting these ships through a comprehensive modernization program called "AIDA Evolution." The lead ship, AIDAdiva, recently completed a seven-week dry dock for this upgrade. Similar refurbishments are planned for AIDAluna and AIDAbella during the winter 2025/2026 season. A specific date for AIDAsol's AIDA Evolution dry dock has not yet been scheduled. AIDAsol's last regular maintenance and class renewal took place during a dry dock period at the Blohm and Voss shipyard in Hamburg in the first half of October 2023.
Note: AIDAsol's current voyage (March 29 - April 12, 2025) includes ports such as Haugesund, Bodø, Alta, Honningsvåg, Tromsø, Trondheim, and Måløy.
