A Ceremony of Prestige
The event was attended by key industry leaders, including Gianluigi Aponte, Founder and Chairman of MSC Group; Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises; and Laurent Castaing, General Manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique. French Minister of Industry and Energy Marc Ferracci also commended the shipyard’s expertise and its strong partnership with MSC Cruises.
MSC World America: A Flagship of Sustainability
The MSC World America, the 23rd ship in MSC’s fleet, will be officially christened on April 9, 2025, at the state-of-the-art MSC Terminal in Miami. Combining European elegance with American comfort, the vessel sets new standards in energy efficiency. Equipped with LNG-powered engines and future-proofed for bio- and synthetic fuels, it boasts the lowest carbon footprint in the cruise industry. Additionally, its shore power connectivity allows for zero-emission dockings in equipped ports.
MSC World Asia & Atlantic: The Next Generation
While MSC World Asia is set to debut in the Winter 2026/27 season with Mediterranean itineraries, MSC World Atlantic will begin Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral in 2027. Both ships continue the groundbreaking "World Class" legacy established by MSC World Europa in 2022, emphasizing innovation and sustainability.
Commitment to Sustainability
Pierfrancesco Vago highlighted the long-standing collaboration with Chantiers de l’Atlantique: "Together, we’ve developed five prototypes and 19 ships that redefine modern cruising through cutting-edge design and environmental responsibility." Laurent Castaing emphasized continuous improvements in energy efficiency, while Minister Ferracci praised the shipyard’s industrial excellence.
The Bureau Veritas "Platinum Pearl Award" further recognized MSC Cruises’ commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
MSC World America’s Itineraries
Starting April 12, 2025, the ship will offer two alternating 7-night Caribbean routes from Miami:
- Eastern Caribbean: Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), San Juan (Puerto Rico), Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
- Western Caribbean: Costa Maya & Cozumel (Mexico), Isla de Roatán (Honduras), Ocean Cay.
With these milestones, the "World Class" fleet not only redefines luxury cruising but also paves the way for a more sustainable future in the maritime industry.
