Tradition Matters: A Godmother with Company Ties
As is customary for Phoenix Reisen, the godmother was chosen from within the company’s network. Bianca Rödig, daughter of Sea Chefs founder Helmut Rödig, took on this honorary role. Sea Chefs, a long-standing partner of Phoenix Reisen, manages onboard hospitality for numerous ocean and river cruise ships—including the new MS Aurelia.
Setting New Standards in Design and Comfort
Measuring 135 meters in length and 11.45 meters in width, the MS Aurelia is built to the maximum dimensions for river cruise ships in Central Europe, making it ideal for voyages on the Rhine, Main, Mosel, and Danube. The ship accommodates up to 208 guests in around 100 cabins, served by a crew of 50.
According to Phoenix Reisen, the vessel sets new benchmarks in luxury and sustainability. Most cabins feature French balconies, while bright, spacious public areas create an elegant atmosphere. Highlights include a panoramic lounge with a bar, a modern lobby with a reception desk, a main restaurant with open seating, and the aft bar "Trattoria Caminetto." Wellness enthusiasts will appreciate the onboard sauna, while the sun deck—complete with a pool, loungers, and seating areas—invites relaxation. Part of the ship’s energy supply comes from eco-friendly solar power.
2025 Inaugural Season: From the Rhine to the Danube
For its debut season, the MS Aurelia will first sail the Rhine toward the Netherlands. From mid-June to early September, it will operate on the Danube before returning to the Rhine and Mosel in the fall. This schedule ensures diverse itineraries for discerning cruise travelers.
