From Research Vessel to Luxury Liner
Originally designed as a Russian research vessel, the hull of the Seven Seas Navigator was initially constructed in St. Petersburg before being sold to Italy and converted into a cruise ship. For over 25 years, it has sailed the world’s oceans under Regent’s banner. Now, Crescent Seas is ushering in a new chapter: the ship will be refitted into a high-end residential vessel featuring just 210 residences, priced between 750,000and750,000and8 million.
Crescent Seas Brings Luxury Real Estate to the High Seas
The project is spearheaded by Crescent Seas, a new subsidiary of the renowned real estate developer Crescent Heights. The company aims to redefine luxury living with "The Navigator," offering permanent seafaring residences instead of traditional cruises. Each unit will include butler service, Starlink internet, and access to global itineraries.
Three top-tier design firms—Lissoni & Partners, Journey, and MAWD—are collaborating on the interiors. Residence sales will launch on April 9, 2024, with a sales gallery in Miami open to prospective buyers. The ship’s maiden voyage as a residential vessel is scheduled for December 2026.
Global Exploration Over Fixed Destinations
Unlike conventional cruises, residents of "The Navigator" will spend two to three days in each port of call, visiting exotic destinations such as French Polynesia, the Faroe Islands, and Madagascar. "Why vacation in just one city when you can live in all the world’s greatest places?" says Russell W. Galbut, co-founder of Crescent Seas.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises Modernizes Its Fleet
For Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the sale marks a strategic move. With the upcoming delivery of the new "Seven Seas Prestige" in 2025, the fleet will remain at eight ships—now with a more modern lineup. Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of the cruise line, emphasizes: "The Navigator has many loyal fans, but with our new Prestige-class ships, we’re optimizing our fleet for the future."
Experienced Partners Ensure Premium Service
The Apollo Group, a cruise industry leader with over 50 years of experience, will continue managing onboard dining and service. Crescent Seas also plans to announce four additional residential ships in the next five years, signaling strong demand for exclusive seafaring living.
With this bold venture, Crescent Seas is setting a new standard in luxury travel—proving that the future of cruising may lie not just in travel, but in life at sea.
