Princess Cruises Celebrates 60th Anniversary and Launches the New Star Princess

In 2025, Princess Cruises will celebrate two major milestones: the renowned US-based cruise line marks its 60th anniversary and welcomes its newest flagship, the Star Princess. This state-of-the-art LNG-powered cruise ship will enhance the fleet and begin its maiden voyages in the Mediterranean and Caribbean starting October 2025.

The Star Princess’s inaugural journey will depart from Barcelona on October 4, 2025, embarking on a 12-day Mediterranean itinerary. Following this, the ship will cross the Atlantic to spend its first season in the Caribbean. As the sister ship to the Sun Princess, which entered service in 2024, the Star Princess sets new standards in comfort and innovation. Highlights include smoke-free casino areas, an expanded culinary offering, and unique leisure activities, making it a standout addition to the Princess fleet.

With a capacity for 4,300 passengers, the Star Princess offers a wide range of cabin options, including 80 suites, 123 mini-suites, over 1,000 balcony cabins, and 100 staterooms with connecting doors. Guests staying in suites, mini-suites, and select balcony cabins will enjoy the exclusive Sanctuary Collection. This premium experience includes private dining and relaxation areas, as well as the Princess Premier package, ensuring an all-inclusive luxury experience.

The ship’s architectural features are particularly noteworthy. Inspired by the design of the Sun Princess, the Star Princess boasts The Dome, the largest glass-enclosed structure at sea, and The Sphere, a stunning piazza at the heart of the ship. These unique spaces provide guests with unforgettable moments and breathtaking views.

In addition to the launch of the Star Princess, Princess Cruises is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The company’s first cruise ship, the Princess Patricia, set sail on December 3, 1965. To commemorate this milestone, a special voyage along the Mexican Riviera has been planned. The two-week anniversary cruise aboard the Royal Princess will depart from Los Angeles on December 6, 2025, visiting several ports that were part of Princess Cruises’ very first itinerary. A highlight of the journey will be an exclusive concert by the legendary Motown group, The Temptations.
