Construction Progress Continues
Despite foggy winter weather, numerous onlookers gathered to witness the spectacular maneuver in the Papenburg shipyard harbor. The Asuka III, whose exterior is almost complete, will now remain at the shipyard pier for several weeks. During this time, work will focus on the interior to ensure the vessel is ready for delivery to the Japanese client in spring.
Next Steps: Ems Transfer and Sea Trials
The next major milestone is the planned Ems transfer, which is expected to take place in early March. Following that, the first sea trials will be conducted. These trials aim to thoroughly test the technical systems of the LNG cruise ship, ensuring that all onboard functions meet the required standards.
A First for Meyer Werft and NYK Cruises
With the Asuka III, Meyer Werft is building a cruise ship for NYK Cruises for the first time. The ship has been tailored specifically for the Japanese market and features exclusive highlights such as a luxurious spa area with a traditional Japanese open-air bath.
Technical Specifications of Asuka III:
- Length: 230.2 meters
- Width: 29.8 meters
- Shipyard: Meyer Werft Papenburg (Germany)
- Guest Cabins and Suites: 385
- Maximum Guest Capacity: 744

The Asuka III represents another success in the long history of the Meyer Werft and sets new standards in environmentally friendly and luxurious shipbuilding.
