New York City provided the grand stage for the Disney Treasure's highly anticipated christening ceremony. As a unique gesture, over 200,000 Disney employees worldwide symbolically served as the ship’s godparents. The new cruise liner was officially delivered by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, just a month ago.

The ceremony, broadcast live at 8:00 PM local time, marked the ship’s first public presentation. The Journey of the Disney Treasure

The Disney Treasure was officially handed over to Disney Cruise Line by Meyer Werft in October 2024. On October 29, the ship began its transatlantic journey from Eemshaven to North America. After successfully crossing the Atlantic, it arrived in Port Canaveral, Florida, one week ago. Key inspections by the U.S. Coast Guard were completed before the ship set sail for New York City.

On November 18, 2024, the Disney Treasure made its first-ever arrival in New York City, docking at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. This marked the beginning of final preparations for its grand christening in the iconic city.

Looking Ahead: Maiden Voyage and Deployment

Following the christening, the Disney Treasure is set to begin regular service in about a month. The maiden voyage, a seven-day Caribbean cruise, will depart from Port Canaveral on December 21, 2024. The ship will remain stationed there for weekly itineraries to the Western and Eastern Caribbean at least until spring 2026.
