Extensive trip cancellations and new routes at AIDA Cruises for winter 2025/2026

Due to ongoing concerns in the Red Sea, AIDA Cruises has announced changes for the upcoming cruise seasons. In fall 2025 and spring 2026, the cruise line will avoid the Suez Canal. This decision affects not only the routes that pass directly through the canal, but also those that are scheduled before or after the planned transits, as well as voyages on other ships in the fleet.

In the 2025/2026 winter program, AIDAprima and AIDAstella were scheduled to sail through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal in autumn and spring respectively. However, the security situation in various regions of the Middle East remains tense. Unfortunately, it cannot be assumed that the situation will calm down in the foreseeable future.

In the interests of the safety of our guests and crew, the only responsible option is therefore to choose a different route for these two ships now. This requires schedule changes and several voyage cancellations. Due to the significantly longer route along the African coast and the associated effects, individual cruises before or after the passages are unfortunately also affected in addition to the transits of AIDAprima and AIDAstella.

During the winter of 2025/2026, the AIDAprima will be stationed in the Orient, which will require a transfer before and after this time. However, the planned crossings through the Suez Canal will have to be canceled due to the current circumstances. This decision also entails a number of schedule changes for the AIDAprima:

All cruises between 03.10.2025 and 16.11.2025 and between 30.04.2026 and 11.05.2026 have been canceled.

In spring 2026, a scheduled shipyard stay in Northern Europe is also planned, which has been confirmed by AIDA Cruises and will take place from 28.04. to 21.05.2026.

The AIDAstella, which would normally also pass through the Suez Canal, will now navigate around Africa:

Voyages with departure dates from 23.10.2025 to 02.12.2025, from 03.03.2026 to 02.04.2026 and from 22.04.2026 to 17.05.2026 have been canceled.

In addition, the shipyard stay of the AIDAprima requires changes for the AIDAcosma, which is also experiencing several voyage cancellations:

Cancellations affect departures on 18.03.2026, 21.03.2026, 08.04.2026 and 11.04.2026.

To compensate, AIDA is planning new cruises around Africa for the winter season 2025/2026, with bookings starting on 07.01.2025.

AIDA Cruises will inform all affected guests about these changes.
