German national culinary team delights guests on Mein Schiff 3 with Olympic menu
Many professional chefs dream of demonstrating their skills on a trip around the world on board a cruise ship. For the members of the VKD, this dream is now coming true. As part of a team of guest chefs, they will be showcasing their skills for a week on Mein Schiff 3 in December.
Guest appearance on Mein Schiff 3
As part of a new collaboration with the Mein Schiff fleet, the German national team of chefs will take part in the voyage “Europe's West Coast in Advent Splendor”. The VKD chefs will take over the kitchen of the exclusive specialty restaurant “La Spezia - Enjoy Italian” on two evenings. There they will master the challenge of preparing a sophisticated multi-course menu in a galley that is unfamiliar to them.
Refined four-course menu with gold medal character
The menu served to guests on board is a further development of the award-winning dish that led the team to gold at the IKA/Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart. Additional amuse-bouches and appetizers have been added to the menu for this special onboard event. The menu includes:
Lobster | Saffron | Fennel | Yellow beet
Halibut | Pithivier | Celery | Yuzu Beurre Blanc | Caviar
Veal | Herbs | Pea | Romaine lettuce
Nougat | Apple | Cranberry | Yogurt | Lemon balm
Interactive cooking show on the high seas
In addition to the exclusive evenings in the restaurant, Team Germany will also be hosting a cooking show in Mein Schiff 3's large theater. The 90-minute show offers space for 950 guests and will be hosted by Ronny Pietzner, the long-time team manager. During the show, the audience will gain insights into the preparation of dishes and receive tips on how to impress their guests at home.
