The luxury and expedition fleet of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has once again received an outstanding award: All five of the company's ships were awarded the highest rating of five stars. According to the Insight Guides Cruising & Cruise Ships 2025, this makes Hapag-Lloyd Cruises the best fleet in the world.

More than 340 ships were comprehensively evaluated in the latest edition of the renowned cruise guide. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises once again came out on top with its entire fleet, with every ship receiving the highest rating. This is the second year in a row that the cruise line has received the prestigious award for all its ships.

Leader in the “Small Ships” category

The ranking is headed by the MS EUROPA 2, which was named the best ship in the world in the “Small Ships” category (251 to 750 passengers). Its sister ship, the MS EUROPA, followed closely behind. Both ships have been considered the benchmark in the luxury segment since they entered service and have consistently defended their top position.

Top rating for boutique ships

The expedition ships HANSEATIC nature, HANSEATIC spirit and HANSEATIC inspiration also each received five stars and thus dominate the “Boutique Ships” category (50 to 250 guests). The HANSEATIC nature and HANSEATIC spirit top this list, followed by their sister HANSEATIC inspiration.

Recognition for the crew

Isolde Susset, Managing Director of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, emphasizes the importance of the crew: “These awards are a testament to the exceptional dedication and professionalism of every single team member on board and ashore. We are proud of this achievement and will continue to do everything we can to offer our guests a first-class travel experience in the future.”

Praise from experts

Douglas Ward, author of the Insight Guide Cruising & Cruise Ships and renowned cruise expert, praised the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleet: “It is a pleasure to once again award these ships top marks. Guests can look forward to an outstanding cruise experience and excellent service, characterized by attention to detail and the highest quality.”

Ward, who can look back on over 1,130 cruises and numerous ship christenings and maiden voyages, underlines the exceptional quality of the Hapag-Lloyd fleet.
