During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the cruise ship AIDAcosma had to call at the port of Palma de Mallorca again due to a medical emergency. The ship had actually set off for Sardinia on Saturday evening as planned, heading for Cagliari. However, a medical incident occurred on board at around midnight, necessitating an immediate return to the port of Palma de Mallorca to carry out an emergency disembarkation.

On arrival at the port of Palma de Mallorca, the affected passenger was disembarked as quickly as possible and transported to a local hospital. The entire process went smoothly, so that the AIDAcosma was ready to sail again at around 4 a.m. and was able to continue its journey. With the lines released, the ship set course again for the first scheduled port on the route “Mediterranean Treasures with Sardinia from Mallorca.”

The delay of around six hours was successfully made up for by increasing speed during the onward journey. On Monday morning, after a day at sea in the Mediterranean, the AIDAcosma reached the port of Cagliari in Sardinia on schedule.

On Saturday evening, the return to Palma de Mallorca was the best solution to deal with the medical emergency. In such situations, there is normally still the option of evacuation by helicopter or boat if the ship is at sea. The passenger who has been transferred from the ship's hospital to shore will now receive the necessary medical treatment in hospital. Hopefully the treatment will bring a speedy recovery for the person concerned.
