For the first time, AIDAstella is taking a route south of Africa this fall. Over the coming weeks, it will call at several ports in Africa and the Indian Ocean for the first time. This decision was taken because the security situation in the Red Sea remains tense. The transfer of the AIDAstella will take place in three stages: it will start in Palma de Mallorca and travel via Cape Town and Dubai to Laem Chabang near Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
The original plan was for AIDAstella to remain in the Mediterranean until mid-November 2024. A new 14-day cruise was to take place in the eastern Mediterranean. However, due to the uncertain situation in the Red Sea, the schedule for fall 2024 had to be changed, meaning that AIDAstella had to adjust its travel plans in order to arrive in Southeast Asia on time. From December 2024 to May 2025, the ship will be sailing in Asian waters for the first time.
AIDAstella's itinerary from October 20 to December 2, 2024:
- Palma de Mallorca
- Sea day
- Gibraltar
- Sea day
- Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)
- Sea day
- Praia (Santiago)

- Cape Town (several days stay)
- Port Elizabeth
- East London

Dubai (several days stay)
With this unique route through Africa and the Indian Ocean, AIDAstella is preparing for its first winter season in Asia.
