On October 3, 2024, the passengers of the MSC Splendida were informed about an adjustment to the route of their 8-day cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean. This change was necessary due to an imminent deterioration in the weather. According to the shipping company, strong winds of over 50 knots are expected, which could affect the safe entry and exit of the port of Trieste. Therefore, the port of Katakolon was removed from the itinerary to ensure safety.

MSC also informed guests that all excursions already booked for Katakolon will be automatically credited to their cabin account. As additional compensation for the canceled stop, each passenger was granted an on-board credit of 50 euros, which can be used during the current voyage.

The original route of the MSC Splendida included stops in Trieste, Katakolon, Piraeus, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Corfu and Bari. The adjusted route now runs from Trieste via Piraeus, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Corfu and Bari.

The MSC Splendida will remain in the Mediterranean until the end of November and will then continue its voyages from Santos and Buenos Aires, where it will sail to new dream destinations in South America.
