This shakedown cruise marks a true premiere in the cruise industry, as never before has a brand-new ship been occupied by so many sales partners directly upon delivery from the shipyard. The voyage centers around the annual training forum of the Austrian travel agency cooperation TRAVELStar, hosting around 145 professionals alongside approximately 1,400 additional agents and high-ranking TUI Group executives. While final finishing touches are completed on board, the crew—who underwent intensive German language training prior to the cruise—is gaining vital hands-on experience. In addition to culinary and creative workshops, the onboard program features premium entertainment and a live podcast with TUI Cruises CEO Wybcke Meier.
Measuring 333 meters in length and 48 meters in width, Mein Schiff Flow spans 19 decks and accommodates up to 3,984 passengers. The cruise line utilizes advanced environmental technology for its propulsion: the vessel features a dual-fuel engine capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil, with regular bio-LNG bunkering scheduled for summer 2026 in Barcelona. Equipped with highly efficient SCR catalytic converters, waste heat recovery systems, and comprehensive shore power connectivity, the new build can operate virtually emission-free in appropriately equipped ports.
The grand christening ceremony on June 20 in the Bay of Trieste will be held under the motto "Go with the Flow," featuring exclusive live performances by music stars Rea Garvey and Tim Bendzko. In a unique twist, three loyal repeat guests will perform the traditional bottle-smashing ceremony. Immediately following the festivities, Mein Schiff Flow will embark on its official maiden voyage in the Mediterranean, spending its debut season operating roundtrips from Palma de Mallorca.
