The triathlon will block central traffic hubs for many hours. The bike route crosses the vital Köhlbrandbrücke, which will be completely closed to regular traffic. The streets around the Alster and the Hamburg Rathausmarkt will also be at a complete standstill this weekend. The access roads to the major cruise terminals in Steinwerder and Altona will be particularly affected by these measures.
While the athletes sweat it out on land, AIDA Cruises will be celebrating on the water. The ships AIDAperla, AIDAsol, and AIDAprima will meet for an impressive ship parade on the Elbe river. When the fleet comes together and tens of thousands of spectators line the shores on both the port and starboard sides, the passenger exchange will become a real test of patience, especially at the Cruise Center Altona. The AIDAsol will dock here in the morning. Direct arrival at the terminal with your own car is almost entirely blocked by the adjacent bike route.
Therefore, the safest way to the terminal is via the water. Cruise guests are strongly advised to leave their cars behind and switch to public transport. The best route to the Altona terminal is taking the S-Bahn to Landungsbrücken and continuing with the HVV ferry 62 to the Dockland stop. Important: Be sure to stick strictly to your given check-in times down to the minute so you don't miss the departure!
