On May 1, 2026, exactly at 6:00 PM, the MS Finnmarken cast off in Hamburg. The popular Hurtigruten vessel left the Chicagokai in HafenCity and embarked on its 15-day summer route along the picturesque Norwegian coast up to the North Cape. This officially opens the main season for these fascinating voyages into the Arctic midnight sun.

The route departing from the Elbe metropolis is extremely popular because it offers passengers a convenient, flight-free journey. This aligns perfectly with the current "slow travel" trend in tourism. On board, guests can enjoy the exclusive "Signature" concept: an all-inclusive experience featuring premium, local Norwegian cuisine and the expert guidance of a German-speaking expedition team. In addition, the ship boasts modern hybrid technology and shore power capabilities, significantly reducing emissions in the sensitive Arctic waters.

Due to the massive demand for these comfortable North Cape voyages, Hurtigruten is expanding its services from Hamburg. Current booking numbers are roughly 50 percent higher than the previous year. As a result, the sister ship MS Midnatsol will join the MS Finnmarken on this successful route starting in the fall of 2026. This move will double the cruise line's weekly capacity, offering departures every Saturday to allow even more guests to experience this relaxing maritime adventure.
