Behind the scenes, "Operational Intelligence" ensures smooth processes. The "Neptune" system uses cloud technology to optimize routing by analyzing weather and currents to save fuel. Particularly impressive is the "Less Left Over" program: thanks to Computer Vision, an AI at the buffets recognizes exactly which dishes need to be replenished and when. This massively reduces food waste and saves the group millions. Investments are also being made ashore: the modernized Fleet Operations Center in Hamburg monitors the fleet 24/7 to maximize safety.
For guests, digitalization primarily means convenience. With "OpenRoaming," tedious logins to the onboard Wi-Fi are a thing of the past – from the engine room deep down on the port side to the sun deck up on the starboard side, the connection remains stable. Biometric boarding also speeds up check-in via facial recognition. In the background, the "Adobe Experience Cloud" ensures hyper-personalization: those searching for family vacations online will see tailor-made offers for kids, while couples receive inspiration for exclusive wellness oases.
To ensure the hardware keeps pace with the tech, the "AIDA Evolution" modernization program is in full swing. Sphinx-class ships, such as AIDAluna or AIDAmar, are receiving profound upgrades in the shipyards. In addition to new restaurants, "Smart Cabins" with modern charging infrastructure are being installed. Simultaneously, two new ships have been ordered from Fincantieri, which will offer maximum flexibility for future eco-fuels starting in 2030 with multi-fuel engines. Despite geopolitical challenges and re-routings in the Middle East, the trend is clearly pointing north: demand for cruises departing from Germany remains consistently high.
