For AIDAmar, this kick-off is the start of a busy year. With a total of 32 planned turnarounds, the ship confidently leads the port statistics and serves as a reliable backbone for local value creation. A special highlight awaits passengers and onlookers at the end of April: as part of a major "Port Party," AIDA Cruises will celebrate its 30th corporate anniversary. When the fleet sets sail in a festive manner, traditionally accompanied on the port or starboard side by agile tugboats and live music, functional port logistics and maritime folk festivals merge in an emotional way.
Even beyond the AIDA fleet, the base port of Rostock-Warnemünde has much to offer in 2026 in terms of infrastructure. The range of expected guests this year spans from 330-meter-long mega-cruisers to ultra-luxurious expedition newbuilds. For the location, this mix of international day visitors and weekly passenger changeovers means an enormous economic boost of around 50 million euros. Warnemünde scores with the shipping companies not only because of its short walking distances to the historic old town, but above all because of its extremely short channel navigations on the Baltic Sea.
A central theme of the entire season remains the ecological transformation of the industry. Warnemünde is consistently expanding its pioneering role in eco-friendly shore power, which is also intensively used by AIDAmar during its port stays. Speaking of the future: a significant milestone awaits AIDAmar after the Warnemünde cruise summer. In November 2026, the ship will head to the dry dock in Marseille for the comprehensive "AIDA Evolution" modernization program. There, she will not only be visually upgraded with new suites but will also receive state-of-the-art, resource-saving water treatment plants to navigate even more efficiently into the next decade.
